Chicken Katsu
Chicken Katsu is a popular Japanese dish consisting of breaded and deep-fried chicken cutlets. It's crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, served with a savory tonkatsu sauce. This recipe is a delicious and easy way to enjoy a taste of Japanese cuisine at home.
Ingredients:
- 4 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Tonkatsu sauce for serving
- Shredded cabbage for serving
- Cooked rice for serving
Instructions:
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350F 180C
Add salt and pepper to the chicken breasts
Coat each chicken breast in flour and then shake off the extra
After dipping chicken breasts in flour into beaten eggs, cover them with panko breadcrumbs and press them down gently to stick
It should take about 5 to 6 minutes per side to fry the chicken breasts in hot oil until they are golden brown and fully cooked
Take the chicken out of the oil and put it on paper towels to drain
Cut the chicken into thin strips
With the chicken katsu, serve tonkatsu sauce, cooked rice, and cabbage shreds
