Chocolate Glazed Donuts
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Sprinkles optional
Instructions:
In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt
In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract
Mix well
Combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring until just combined
Heat oil in a deep pan to 350F 175C
Drop spoonfuls of the donut batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side
Remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and heavy cream together in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth
Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla extract
Dip the cooled donuts into the chocolate glaze and place them on a wire rack to let excess glaze drip off
Add sprinkles on top if desired
Allow the glaze to set, and then enjoy your chocolate glazed donuts!
